Best Business in Great Neck, 2010

I must be doing something right. I got this mail today, in regard to a domain I use for private mail. I do have a web page, which says "The X Group delivers custom software and internet services to a select group of customers." It has no contact information. I figure, if you need my services, you at least know how to find me.

Congratulations The X Group ,

The Small Business Commerce Association (SBCA) is pleased to announce that The X Group has been selected for the 2010 Best of Business Award in the Services NEC category.

The SBCA Best of Business Award Program recognizes the best of small businesses throughout the country. Using consumer feedback and other research, the SBCA identifies companies that we believe have demonstrated what makes small businesses a vital part of the American economy. The selection committee chooses the award winners from nominees based off information taken from monthly surveys administered by the SBCA, a review of consumer rankings, and other consumer reports . Award winners are a valuable asset to their community and exemplify what makes small businesses great.

So, hats off to smallbusinesscommerceassociation.org. You guys are really providing some valuable stuff there. Whatever.

IPv6 Day

June 8 is going to be World IPv6 Day.

You can read all about it here, but the gist is that some Facebook, Yahoo, and Google will turn on IPv6 for the day. In the best of all possible worlds, this shouldn't be noticeable at all. Some users will suddenly work over IPv6, but the bulk of the world will be fine. The reality, is that there is some percentage of people who have broken home networking equipment and/or their ISPs do. This day will highlight the issues.

Try out your IPv6 capabilities in advance with this test: http://test-ipv6.com/
